Overview
The Ordinary is a skincare brand owned by Deciem. They have strong core values of sustainability as they constantly make an effort to stray from consumerism. Their products are concise, with minimal ingredients to get the job done without causing irritation. The Ordinary's original design is very minimalistic, in accordance with their products. My goal was to redesign their packaging for the niacinamide serum to make it more appealing and easier to understand for people who are new to skincare.
Process
I wanted to add to their design in order to attract a larger audience while maintaining simplicity. My design process started with a word map of the company's values and characteristics. I then got to work with designing the logo and expanded from there. After many sketched and digital iterations, I decided on a logo that is simple and symbolic. The product is meant to lighten blemishes on the user's skin to make it clear. The squiggly line represents the blemishes that slowly lighten. In order to make the information easier to understand, I added a blue strip around the box that concisely contains all the important details. It is easier to find, read, and understand.
